Overview

The Assessment Research Manager  manages the administration and reporting of nationally-normed survey instruments. Monitors the validity and reliability of University assessment and survey instruments and recommends changes and enhancements. Provides technical research and survey development assistance to internal parties. Provides technical expertise and training to improve the quality of direct assessments of student learning. Supports the implementation of institutional assessment processes.  Consults with stakeholders to support program level assessment efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the administration of nationally-normed survey instruments, e.g. CLA+, NSSE, SAILS, EPP.
  • Monitors the validity and reliability of University assessment and survey instruments and recommends changes and enhancements as necessary.
  • Provides technical research and survey development assistance to internal parties as needed or requested.
  • Prepares assessment, survey, and research reports resulting from the collection, analysis, and summary of information and trends.
  • Provides oversight, support and training for leadership and staff to ensure successful implementation of assessment programs.
  • Ensures data are communicated to stakeholders in a timely manner to support institutional or college/school decision-making.
  • Participates in the research and scholarship of assessment.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of academic survey trends and requirements to ensure the University meets established standards.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
• Master’s degree in statistics, research methods, or psychometrics, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution required
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in academic or competency-based assessment of student learning
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with assessment theory, strategies, instruments, and data collection and analysis methodologies

Additional Qualifications
• Doctorate preferred
• Strong experience with software such as Microsoft Office Excel and data analysis software such as SPSS
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to solve complex problems using excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to act as a resource to staff regarding data collection and analysis methodologies
• Strong organizational skills, detail- and results-oriented
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
