The Sr. Director, Strategic Initiatives, manages, executes and is responsible for the execution of multiple technology-enabled projects and change initiatives that directly align with University strategy and maximize the use of core technical programs to realize business value. The individual directs the alignment and execution of large or key projects, initiatives and/or programs across the organization. In addition, the Sr. Director, Strategic Initiatives serves as a liaison between business and technology leaders to ensure project alignment and streamlined processes, including aligning milestones with strategic objectives and business goals, defining requirements and benefits, resolving problems, and driving positive stakeholder and student outcomes.


  • Collaborate with others to define the business stakeholder vision at the initiative level, influencing scope and delivery options; work closely with business stakeholders to develop business case, value proposition, requirements and definition of deliverables. Effectively negotiate with business stakeholders to align objectives concerning project timing, effort and scope; liaise with all business owners to ensure clear communication and understanding of product offerings and upcoming changes. 
  • Drive quantitative and qualitative end user intelligence and research to better understand customer profile, needs and behavior; develop and rapidly test key hypotheses.
  • Coordinate the management and execution of multiple key large-scale projects, programs and/or strategic initiatives for the University; ensure appropriate cost/benefit analyses are performed; anticipate roadblocks, conflicts or obstacles and marshal required resources to ensure future capacity needs can be met; identify all dependencies and manage integrated deployment.
  • Review technical solutions for alignment with business objectives and work with project management and IT delivery team on execution of product roadmap; collaborate with project managers and/or stakeholders across the organization to gather project status information, regularly report on progress and ensure integrated deployment.
  • Select, mentor, coach and evaluate staff; establish and monitor appropriate employee performance objectives; prepare and present employee performance reviews; implement mentoring and coaching plans, or disciplinary action, where appropriate.







Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering
• Ten (10) years of experience in consulting, including managing execution of technology products, with a proven track record of realizing business value through technology implementation

Additional Requirements:

• Master’s in Business Administration
• Product management or project management experience
• Exceptional ability to build relationships
• Ability to be data-driven and action-oriented to analyze and diagnose complex product and business challenges, formulate solutions and motive the broader organization to pragmatic action
• Proven high level conceptual and strategic planning abilities to establish complex strategic plans, budgets, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, and plans to meet stated goals
• Ability to be detail-oriented while managing several work-streams
• Ability to demonstrate poise and composure dealing with senior leadership leaders both inside and outside the University with an ability to communicate at both the business and technical level
