The Sr Technical Manager, Hyperion is a subject matter expert for Hyperion and supports, administers and maintains Hyperion and other assigned Financial Business Systems for the University’s Finance function. The individual lead project teams and works with key stakeholders and leaders to design, document, develop and implement integrated financial business models and reports that support the organization’s strategic plan, annual operating plan and periodic forecasts


  • Lead project teams and work with key stakeholders to design, develop and implement integrated financial models and financial systems (e.g., Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Essbase, Oracle EPM) and PC software; use financial models and systems to create efficiencies, improve productivity and improve user satisfaction. 
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with business stakeholders across multiple departments and geographic locations to ensure project design, development, testing, training, implementation and support objectives are accomplished within prescribed timeframes and in compliance with University guidelines and operational goals. 
  • Create tools and processes to identify and analyze key business trends and issues, using actual, budgeted and forecasted data (e.g., monthly budget variance reports, headcount analysis reports, year-over-year analyses); proactively collaborate with Accounting, FP & A and business leaders regarding problem resolution, consistency and identification of opportunities to improve efficiency and efficacy of the monthly processes.
  • Proactively identify and communicate with leadership about potential issues and concerns and recommend/ implement alternatives or solutions as appropriate; ensure issues are analyzed discussed and resolved in a timely manner to closure; identify risk mitigation steps and recommend actions to address project and support issues.
  • Collaborate with others to prepare accurate monthly financial analyses and key metric comparisons; develop interpretive and compelling analyses to communicate findings via a consolidated financial reporting package.
  • Ensure ongoing maintenance and support of business rules, calculations, scripts, forms, smartview templates and reports with a focus on continual improvement and efficiency; provide advisement on technical designs to ensure solutions are forward-looking and flexible for potential future requirements and business needs; ensure master governance and controls are in place to provide consistent, complete and accurate information.


Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Finance Technology
• Five (5) years of functional experience with Oracle’s Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Essbase, Hyperion FDMEE and/or FDM, Hyperion Smartview, Reporting Studio or other similar enterprise-wide budgeting, forecasting or accounting software package, coupled with progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, accounting or related field
• Three (3) years of experience directly managing staff or leading project teams

Additional Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or CPA
• General knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other office automation software
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and a high level of creative, conceptual and strategic abilities
• Ability to communicate financial and technical information in a way that is easily understood by non-financial and/or non-technical colleagues
• Ability to lead and work in a collaborative environment and apply innovation to identify issues and opportunities
