Overview

Under general supervision, this position involves the support of dozens of student, faculty and staff facing applications in our Production environment.  These support initiatives include issue troubleshooting, data analysis, and/or data manipulation; collaborating with end users, business owners and engineering teams to solve problems; understanding application data integration points and workflow; producing and updating documentation; and performing validation after hardware/software releases.  Must have the capacity and desire to work in a unified, group setting with a team of analysts, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with groups we support.

Responsibilities

  • Work support issues assigned to the team, which includes analyzing business processes and dataflow for a number of applications and performing data manipulation in the Production environment. Determine and implement an appropriate fix for the particular issue. Collaborate with team on issues.
  • Write SQL queries for data analysis and manipulation, as needed.
  • Write and maintain documentation, as needed.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, which inludes performing overnight support and release activities.
  • Participate in root cause analysis of system issues.
  • Prepare specifications for development teams. This may include information gathering, data analysis and business process analysis.
  • Maintain and increase professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Become a subject matter expert for part of the application stack.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of formal education and directly related experience, is required
  • A minimum of 2 years of systems or business analysis experience required
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a support\administrator engineer

 Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Linux/Unix a plus
  • Must be competent to work on most phases of systems analysis activities with some instruction, as described above
  • Basic SQL knowledge and experience with SQL & PL/SQL and SQL development tools, such as PL/SQL Developer, Microsoft SQL, or TOAD
  • Experience with AGILE and Scrum a plus
  • Knowledge of higher education Admissions & Records, Policy & Procedures, and/or Program Build processes strongly valued
