Overview

Leads the overall global security function for the organization, including physical security, travel safety & security, crisis management, business continuity, and the global security operations center (GSOC). Responsible for all aspects of strategic planning, development, organization, direction, and implementation of the organization’s global security program.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the overall global security function for the organization, including physical security, travel safety & security, crisis management, business continuity, and the global security operations center (GSOC).
  • Oversees service providers to ensure the highest quality services are provided in order to safeguard the company’s assets, intellectual property, and provide a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors
  • Develops and establishes the enterprise policies, procedures, and programs for physical security, crisis management, business continuity, and travel safety & security
  • Provides strategic advice and counsel to executive management on a variety of matters related to the safety and security of the organization’s assets, students, employees, facilities, and intellectual property
  • Develops and leads the organization’s crisis management strategies and emergency response processes
  • Develops and leads the organization’s threat management processes to ensure that threats against the organization, facilities, employees, and students are adequately managed and legal obligations are met
  • Develops and leads the organization’s travel safety and security program, ensuring that global travelers are supported with safety and security measures on a risk-appropriate basis
  • If directed, develops and leads the organization’s business continuity program, ensuring that critical functions that make up the organization’s long-term ability to maintain operations in the face of a disruptions are identified and have adequate plans and recovery strategies in place
  • Maintains and matures relationships with Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies in order to obtain assistance and guidance when needed
  • Accountable for the overall performance of the departmental staff, including the development of goals and objectives, recruitment of qualified personnel, standardized training, performance evaluations, and design of organizational structure for increased productivity
  • Manages budgets (expense & capital) as directed. Meets all assigned financial objectives
  • Have the ability to professionally and effectively deliver security presentations and training to small and large groups.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  •  Includes direct supervision of the global security department. Indirectly manages large third party security officer force dispersed across the United States via third party providers.

 

Travel

  • Up to 10% of the time



Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in security management, criminal justice, business, or related field.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience, in a management capacity, in large-scale dispersed corporate and/or university security environment with regular, significant interaction with c-level executives
  • Holds professional certification in physical security, crisis/emergency management, and/or business continuity
  • Previous experience and involvement with a security operations center, including the development of standard operating procedures, broad enterprise communication, and 24x7 operational processes
  • Experience in developing and implementing security strategies, policies, procedures, and standards
  • Experience in leading an armed security program; familiarity with state and federal laws related to the use of lethal force in a private sector environment. Must be able to obtain an Arizona Concealed Carry Permit
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of business administration, budgeting, business continuity, crisis management, supervisory skills, facility and personal security administration

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in security management, criminal justice, business, or related field preferred
  • Has experience with global security issues, including oversight of global travel security programs, international risks, intelligence, and global security operations.
  • Proven leadership expertise with a team of direct and indirect reports and third party security personnel. Possesses a track record of developing talent for increased responsibilities over time.Must be able to demonstrate a high level of conceptual, analytical, and strategic thinking to develop and implement the organization’s security and safety programs.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and enforce the organization’s security and safety programs, policies, and procedures to company personnel in a professional manner. 

  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and present findings and recommendations to executive management team and outside parties.
